WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE EPISODE
The various stories from witnesses and the facts they attest to have been available for years, in some cases over a decade. Charles Halt’s assertion that the Orford Ness light could be seen at a different location and at the same time as the light from the object has also been available to researchers for years, as has his audio recording of the events on the night in question. However, UFO Hunters did manage to piece some new information together not only from what we gleaned from the record but also from new interviews.
We ascertained from another one of our guests on the episode, former RAF police officer and the publisher of the U.K.’s “Police Reports of UFOs,” Gary Heseltine, that RAF Bentwaters housed nuclear weapons. According to Heseltine’s experience, there had to be some on-duty personnel in the base watchtower with a view of the entire area. And Charles Halt confirmed that the RAF Bentwaters watchtower was staffed on the successive nights in question and that a sentry in that tower witnessed the entire incident in the forest. In fact, Halt revealed, not only did the sentry see the events unfold in the forest, he also saw other lights in the sky shining their beams directly onto the “hot line,” the areas where nuclear warheads were stored. Therefore, if there was a mission that the UFOs were carrying out, one of the craft led the security detail out into the forest and away from the base while one or more other lights surveyed the storage facility for nuclear weapons. Or was that all they were doing?
Could it be, given the stories about UFOs interfering with the missile-launch-control systems at Malmstrom and other nuclear missile sites both in the United States and in the former USSR decades ago, that whoever is flying these UFOs into heavily guarded military airspaces is testing their ability to shut down our ability to launch nuclear weapons? Might it be that we have been prevented, ever since 1947, by some otherworldly presence from engaging in nuclear war? We certainly have come close on more than one occasion. But the truth is that for over sixty years the world’s nuclear powers, despite the provocation, have managed not to obliterate themselves. Is this entirely our own doing? The witness description from RAF Bentwaters is indeed tantalizing.
The other fascinating piece of new information we learned in this episode came from Keith Seeman, the lighthouse keeper at Orford Ness, whom we interviewed, regarding the lighthouse beam. We learned that despite all the claims from journalists and skeptics that Halt and his men were only chasing a lighthouse beam, no one had ever asked lighthouse keeper Keith Seeman for his opinion about how far that beam could have reached. We took it upon ourselves to visit Orford Ness, a bleak but magnificent spot on the coast of the North Sea, evocative of Beowulf and Vikings and even Count Dracula sailing to England from Transylvania.
